Learning about WW2 in Y3

3SH has had a very interesting day today exploring ‘Life at Home’ during WW2. We learned about food rationing and then we tried tasting some WW2 rationing recipes (carrot buns, unbaked chocolate cake, and crunchies) – the carrot buns were the surprise favourite! I did promise the children that I would give you all the recipes, so as soon as I find those I will pop the link on here in case you wanted to do any home baking.
We also looked briefly at the Blitz and how people would have had to blackout their homes. We then made our own Blackout artwork which the children will be bringing home tomorrow.

Thank you so much to those of you who brought in artifacts/stories/information – it is much appreciated and the children loved hearing about them!
