Jo Jackson visits Coddington

Jo Jackson Visit

On Monday 4th March, Coddington Primary School were delighted to welcome Olympic bronze medallist swimmer and former 400 metres freestyle world record holder Joanne Jackson to our school.

Joanne began the morning by leading a circuit of fitness exercises with each year group. All the exercises were great fun and very active. Joanne said she was extremely impressed by the teamwork displayed by the children, as well as their effort and determination in keeping going and completing the exercises to the best of their ability!

Following the exercises, Joanne delivered a very inspirational whole school assembly. During the assembly she talked about: the highlights of her career; her pathway from first beginning to swim, all the way to reaching the pinnacle of her sport; what motivated her during her many hours of training; the importance and benefits of taking part in sport and physical activity. After the assembly children were also given the opportunity to ask Joanne some interesting questions about her life and her experiences of the Olympics.

Please note that your child’s sponsorship forms and money need to be returned to the school office by this Friday (8th March). Prizes (wristbands and signed posters) will then be distributed to the children once all sponsorship money has been collected. I am sure we will raise lots of money for the school to spend on new fun PE and Sports equipment!

Thank you very much for your support in this event.
