On Monday 11th February, a team of 18 talented swimmers travelled to the Newark Sports and Fitness Centre to represent Coddington Primary school at the annual Swimming gala.
This year, our gala included 6 different schools from the Newark and Sherwood district: Coddington, Winthorpe, John Hunt, Bleasby, Sir Donald Bailey and Holy Trinity.
During the event, the Coddington team competed in twenty individual 25 meter races, as well as five relay races. In a very competitive atmosphere, our swimmers continually rose to the occasion and raced with tremendous skill and confidence. There were consequently, too many highlights and top performances to list. However, I can say that we produced an amazing nine 1st place finishes! I have also worked out that every single swimmer was involved in at least one 1st or 2nd place finish in an individual or team race!
As a result, I am pleased to announce that Coddington school finished in an overall 1st place with an overall score of 125 points!
This is a fantastic achievement for our swimmers and one they should be very proud of. I would like to say well done to all the team for their efforts and fantastic teamwork. Also, a big thankyou to all parents for your support, and thankyou to the Baggaley family for your very special and lucky Coddington bunting!
